The Citadel Private Retreat is a family-operated resort nestled in Northwestern Ontario amidst the stunning beauty of the Canadian Shield, overlooking the picturesque Pinus Lake. Located on over 22 acres of forest, hiking trails, and accommodation options there is plenty of space here to bring your large vehicles, trailers, boats, and relax in nature. We also offer over 400 feet of shoreline with a private boat launch and several private docks.

The Citadel Private Retreat on Pinus Lake first opened it's doors to guests way back in 1929. Operating under the name Big Pine Lake Camp for decades, this location has been welcoming guests from all over the world for close to 100 years.

We offer a range of accommodations, including historic log cabins from 1929, cozy glamping tents, a dome, and the main lodge, all providing comfort and a connection to nature.

Pinus Lake is great for fishing, offering a variety of fish species such as crappie, perch, muskie, northern pike, walleye, and smallmouth bass. Cast your line from our docks and experience the thrill of reeling in your next catch.
